When you hear the words “Hong Kong,” your thoughts might not immediately go to shopping or dim sum, but it turns out, this city is also a swimmer’s paradise. From the world’s highest pool to a natural infinity pond on a mountainside, Hong Kong has plenty of picturesque places for you to cool off this summer.
With the scorching hot weather settling in, swimming is a perfect way to relax and rejuvenate, not to mention, it’s a great workout! In fact, swimming is an excellent recreational activity for people of all ages, and it’s especially good for kids because it can help improve their motor skills. Furthermore, it’s a fun way to spend time with friends or loved ones and it can also boost one’s confidence.
The best hongkong pools for adults and children alike are located all over the city, from swanky hotel rooftops to public water parks. Whether you want to do some laps or simply soak up the sun, these pools will have you cool and refreshed in no time.
If you’re looking to swim in style this summer, look no further than the stunning rooftop pool at Kerry Hotel Hong Kong. With sweeping views of Victoria Harbour, the stylish pool offers a serene environment where you can practise your strokes or just float back and enjoy the view. Located in Hung Hom, this rooftop oasis is also a short walk from the Red Sugar terrace bar where you can order some drinks and snacks to complement your relaxing afternoon.
Another great option is the outdoor pool at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, which is one of the most picturesque pools in the city. Located on the 118th floor at 484 meters above sea level, this pool is the world’s highest and offers breathtaking views while you swim. This pool is open to non-hotel guests, but if you are planning on visiting, you’ll need to book your tickets in advance as space is limited and spots fill up quickly.
Despite the fact that it’s not as popular as some of the other hongkong pools, the Tai Wan Shan Public Pool is still worth checking out. This gorgeous pool overlooks Victoria Harbour and has eight different swimming lanes for you to swim around in, so you can find your own little corner of paradise! The best part is that it’s open year-round, so you can enjoy this beautiful pool whenever the mood strikes.
While Hong Kong’s pristine swimming pools were set to welcome swimmers this week under a phase-two easing of social-distancing rules, miscommunication between the government and unions resulted in 38 public pools being kept shut for a second week for cleaning. However, 14 facilities were able to reopen on Thursday and the rest will reopen next Monday, according to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It is recommended that you check online or call before heading to the pool for opening hours as some facilities may be closed due to staff shortages.
