While Hong Kong’s pristine swimming pools were set to welcome swimmers this week under a phase-two easing of social-distancing rules, miscommunication between the government and unions resulted in 38 public pools being kept shut for a second week for cleaning. However, 14 facilities were able to reopen on Thursday and the rest will reopen next Monday, according to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It is recommended that you check online or call before heading to the pool for opening hours as some facilities may be closed due to staff shortages.
