Roullete (pronounced roo-lt) is a casino game in which players place chips on a betting mat to wager on what number they think the croupier will spin the roulette wheel to land on. The numbers on the wheel are randomized and alternate red and black. There is also a green compartment numbered 0 on European-style wheels and two green ones on American tables. If a player’s bet hits one of the numbers, they win.
The Roulette Wheel
The roulette wheel consists of a stationary bowl and a rotating wheelhead, and the outer edge contains thirty-six separate compartments that are numbered nonconsecutively from 1 to 36 in alternating red and black colors and also include the green divisions numbered 0 on European-style wheels. On American-style tables, there are also two green compartments numbered 00 that add to the house’s edge and make this version of the game less favorable for the players.
Before the roulette wheel is spun, players give their bets to the croupier by placing them on the table and asking for “color.” The dealer then gives the player coloured chips equal in value to the amount they’ve given the dealer. Between each spin, the croupier will throw the ball into the wheel and it will bounce around until it comes to rest in a pocket that marks a specific number. The winner of the bet will then be determined.
Inside Bets
In this type of bet, you are waging that the winning number will come up in one of the first 18 numbers on the layout (1-18) or the last 18 numbers (19-36). This is an even money bet, meaning if the ball lands on any of these numbers, you’ll win. Outside Bets
