SEBA treats hundreds of children from all over San Bernardino County to an early Christmas as part of its traditional Shop With a Cop program. SEBA hosts several events at area retailers during the month of December to ensure that needy children are afforded Christmas joy. During SEBA Shop with a Cop Christmas, law enforcement professionals volunteer to spend the morning with a child picking out gifts, toys and clothes to help make the holiday season a little brighter. The children get $200 to spend and get to bond with their “cop” personal shopper. Supporting SEBA Shop With a Cop Christmas not only allows a child to receive a much-deserved shopping spree, it affords a law enforcement professional quality time to spend with children from the community they serve.
There are two important reasons why this program stands out from others. First, over 80% of the child participants are over the age of ten, a group often neglected by other assistance programs. Second, each child gets to spend a couple of hours bonding with a law enforcement hero. In these times where it is often popular to criticize and disrespect our men and women in uniform, it is heartwarming to watch the children as they become real fans of our men and women who give so much in their professional and personal lives. The smiles of appreciation on the faces of the children are priceless.
Please join us in putting a smile on a child’s face this holiday season by contributing to the SEBA Charity Fund to support SEBA Shop With a Cop and many other SEBA supported programs that benefit at - risk youth.
